Right Home Theater System

I want to replace my old stereo receiver and CD player and am looking for recommendations on home theater systems (or other alternatives) that have the following capabilities: AM/FM Tuner, surround sound for my HDTV, at least one HDMI port, A/B Speaker switch to play audio in another room, iPod connection for playing MP3, Blu-Ray player desirable but not mandatory. Low profile desirable. Price is a consideration. Thanks for your suggestions.

Why not simply give an approximate budget? Since there are quite a few HTIB systems to choose from, this might make a lot of sense wink

I would like to keep this under $500. I am interested in decent quality home audio and video, not top of the line. If the Philips Blu-ray Home Theater System HTS3306/F7 had an A/B speaker switch for playing music in my living room as well as family room, I think it would give me pretty much everything I am looking for at an attractive price.

Onkyo has had some

I know the Onkyo HTS790 had it- I will look to see if any successor model has it too. Amazon & the Onkyo sites are great places to check if you are in a hurry. It might take me a few hours to look for you though.

FWIW, that's what I would stick with. Look at a HTIB like the S5500 (<$500), which does not include a disc player, but has a pretty decent 7.1 AV receiver supporting iPod connections, speakers & 10" sub. This will allow you to buy a separate BD player with better features for around $100-150. IME the 'all in one' Sammy & Phillips units leave a lot to be desired. Plus if it breaks you have to replace the whole kitty.

Yes Philips Home theater system is fine but i would like to share with you that these high price gadgets are purchased only for once in many years so why not to look for the best. I have installed the McIntosh
Home Theater Systems and I will recommend the same.
