Need instructions setting up panasonic receiver with Samsung

Hello,

I need step by step instructions on how to connect the following components of my home theatre systems

Samsung LED series 6
Panasonic AV - SA HE70 (I know it is old but has to do for now)
Philips BDP 7500

If somebody can provide insructions on what cables I need and what goes where it will be of great help

I have never seen any receiver with so few input connection.

Unless I am not getting the right spec. on this unit, you really doesn't have lots of choices. All I see is coax and optical audio input and head phone jack. Am I correct?

I would connect the BDplayer to the tv with a hdmi cable. Connect a optical cable from the tv to the receiver; and hope the receiver's decoding system will do the job for you. If not, then all you get maybe just stereo. Good luck.

Thank you for the reply, yes the connections are few. But then in 2000 this was a good receiver.

What I saw on my search was completely wrong, but my suggested connections should still applied. Is there something not clear to you? let us know.

You might be able to get surround from the BD plyr

I would also try connecting a digital optical cable from the blu ray player (digital optical out) to the receiver (digital optical in). I'm fairly certain the HDTV will not pass back proper surround sound as has been suggested already. Just mute the HDTV volume when viewing Blu ray discs.

I assume you are using the built in HDTV tuner to receive television content that way too?

For today, now, HDCP rules being in play, the optical from the TV to the Panasonic will be stereo with a fine exception for OTA.

If the TV has a headphone or speaker out, and if I don't watch OTA content a lot I'd run my optical from the BD/DVD player to the Panasonic and analog headphone/speaker out from the TV to the Panasonic.
