how to hookup rca to hdmi

I have recently bought a new led tv, but it only has one set of rca connectors, and two hdmi ports; I found that there are cables rca to hdmi, but I have my doubts about it since hdmi ports are digitals signals and rca are analog. Will it work just by plug it in? for example the wii console comes with rca plugs, will it work if I hoook it up with this type of cable?

Why not use what you have and avoid any convertor box? And no, more than a cable is required. Figure about 99 to 299 bucks for a decent convertor box.

Instead, use a simple A/B switching unit to toggle between one RCA/analog source or another. Something like this can be found for ~$10-20 online or at Radio Shack/Home Depot/etc. Example:

Just connect it as you would any other type of Audio video connection.

It will work fine. Not sure what your worried about, but you will not damage any equipment by using an RCA - HDMI connection. Like you said, you have seen the cable avaible and also saw that its a similar connection for the Wii. Soooo....Just connect it.

Even though the RCA signal is analog, once it hits the HDMI end, the signal is converted to 100% digital. After the signal is transferred, the TV set itself handles the processing to maintain a digital signal.
