PS3 and digital cable box through home theater system

I would like to play my PS3 and my cable box through my home theater system. I have an optical cord, and 2 HDMI cables to work with. So far I have the cable box to work perfectly, and the DVD player on the theater system to work perfectly, but cannot seem to figure out how to get the ps3 to play audio. I have picture, just no sound. Can anybody help me out with how to hook these up simutaniously so I can get sound from both units and still get good quality sound from all?
