Home audio & video forum: Samsung TV with "Not Available" Message...

I have researched this pretty thoroughly and very little info has come about. Most of the DIY fixes have something to do with Closed Captioning, external soundbars, internal mute, etc that are used along with the tv or an option/function of the TV. None of these have anything to do with my particular situation even though the same message is displayed. Have tried all of these and to no avail, the message is still there. It's even freakier watching TV by myself in my bedroom and then all of the sudden the volume increases so loud it's going to blow the speakers on the TV, and the remote is clear across the room from me!

Yes, this one is where it goes to ZERO but I don't write about TV repair here. It's not that I don't want to, but many folk are not going to be happy when I do that.

1. A prankster. Don't laugh. Test? Find the IR receiver and cover it on the TV.

2. It can be the main board. Beware. Cost can be the price of a new set if you are out of warranty.

Thanks for the link to the "ZERO thread". I hadn't seen that one before. Been all over CNET and AVS forums and could never pinpoint my exact problem after troubleshooting so many ideas. At one time I thought it could have been my neighbor using his remote on the TV in his house, and the signal cutting through my window. Turns out his TV is on the opposite end of his house away from mine. I did see some stories about the main board being bad. Kinda scary to spend so much on a TV and have so many issues. Literally every single time I turn on the TV I get the "not available message". I have the out of control volume issue maybe 2 times a week. I am willing to either live with it the way it is or use it for my kid's future playroom and by myself a new one to go in the bedroom.
