The link shows a converter with USB input to computer, then is states you need a PC or Mac. The Mac does not ingest video via USB, it uses FireWire which PCs don't have because they'd have to pay Apple a license fee since Apple created this connection. One problem with this type of USB converter is that the audio and video often will lose synce after several minutes of ingest. There are companies that make professional converters and have made consumer models that do not lose sync. Do a search for Canopus and you will see the models. Unfortunately they aren't cheap, but when you go cheap, you may pay with sub-par performance on the back-end. A PC with USB 2.0 will probably do fine with the converter in that link, but I'd bet that FireWire will still outperform USB. But a PC would need a $15 FireWire card installed, and then would need software to edit the footage.

Yes, the new version of iMovie will import via USB. Forgot about that. Apple dumbed-down iMovie to make it compatible with downloading from USB devices for making videos directly for the web and YouTube, and the new version of iMovie lost many of its great editing features. Apple did the same thing to Final Cut X, which was horrible, and now with the professional community bailing on FCP, Apple did a 180 turnaround and re-added the professional features back in. Apple also ruined QuickTime Pro with version 10 that lost all of it's import and export features. Many QT users like me had to re-download QT 7 after it was automatically deleted when QT 10 installed.

Boy, did the Final Cut Pro crowd raise a stink. I read some really nasty comments on otherwise serene web discussion forums. Hard to blame them for being pissed though.
