Sony CMT-MX700Ni with Mac OSX

I have been trying to connect a Sony CMT-MX700Ni Micro Hi-Fi system to my home wireless network in order to play music from iTunes on my laptop on the Hi-Fi.
The first problem is that the Hi-Fi simply won't connect to my network. I can select the network and enter the password but it then says "Connection Error".
If I ever get past this problem, the second problem will be setting up the server - the manual for the stereo only gives instructions for setting up a server on a Windows computer and I am using Mac OSX.
If anyone can help with this it would be appreciated.

I hope here are some ideas for you:

I got the Sony CMT-MX700Ni since 1 week and had no problem to connect it to my WLAN (it is protected with WPA2-encryption, the Sony could handle it) Its not easy to type in the password, but if you switch on the password to visibility (as described in the manual) I could handle even characters like #.

In my eyes it is not neccesary to set up a media server. It is enough to share a network folder (I use windows, there it is no problem). So you can share for example an external USB-HDD pluged in to your laptop.

I put the USB-HDD in the router (Asus RT-560) and let him share it in the network, so the Sony can easyli find it an play the music.

In the router there you have to activate the uPnP / sharing function, (and maybe switch off AP isolation), so the connected devices can see each other.

watch the second video tutorial, its explaining the network sharing (okay, for Windows, but at the end there is itunes, too)

Thank you so much for this, I was really irritated that I couldn't figure out how to stream iTunes through my new stereo, particularly given they give explcit instructions in the manual for how to do it on PC. They market the thing with an iPhone dock, and rave about the iPhone Network Remote APP, yet still assume everyone will be using a PC to run iTunes.

So thanks, I no longer feel like taking it back to the store.
