Answer Best answer as chosen by user MaxineBBedard Cinema 3D TVs are better for you
Well, epileptic seizures can occur but as you said yourself, that's in an extreme case.
I haven't really heard of anyone having seizures from watching 3D TV.
But it is true that your eyes can get very tired with shutter 3d glasses and your eyesight may drop after a while.
Some people get a headache or nausea when they watch 3D images on an active TV because of the shutter technology.
LG came up with a new technology to make a passive 3D tv.
Passive 3d TVs don't use shutter technology.
Instead, your eyes see the images as you would normally do in everyday life.
You don't get tired eyes, nausea or headache with this.
Basically, passive TV has more frames and the frames move faster, creating clear, flicker free and crosstalk free images.
But with shutter technology, not only are there fewer image frames that move slowly, but also they insert black screen after each image frame.
Each of your eyes take turn to see the image frame i.e when your right eye sees an image, your left eye sees the black screen and vice versa.
This is the reason behind the flicker and crosstalk problems people are complaining about with Samsung, or actually any active 3D tv.
