The CNET review noted it is not handling 1080p at 24 FPS well. This is what you can get on Blu-Ray in "film mode." This is not an offer to write what 24p is as you have the internet.

To handle 24p well you need a 120Hz panel. This looks to be your average 60Hz panel.

Sure, if the panel is using LCD technology, that might be true. But with plasma, there *are* 60Hz panels that can handle 24p content properly.

They have a 72 or 96Hz mode that works well. Some of the Pannys which are advertised to handle 24p content properly have a notorious 48Hz flicker issue, but I honestly haven't seen that problem enough consistency to say that's across the board with the panels I have worked with. The Panasonic models with 96Hz mode sometimes also introduce a ghost image while viewing 24p content. That one I have not seen personally, FWIW.

Another fact about issues with viewers experiencing 'flicker' effects is that it's somewhat subjective. Some folks notice it and others do not. <shrug>

With that particular Vizio the OP is SOL. OTOH, my comments were in reply to your response 'that's a new one', regarding my reference to the 24p capabilities of some plasma models.

Keep in mind many 'purists' are either misinformed or ignorant sometimes about the technologies they (supposedly) evangelize. With the ability for some of the plasmas to change the refresh rate to 96 you get get a 4:4 ratio that avoids the problems of 3:2 pulldown. Again, sometimes there are other issues such as ghost imaging that can sometimes be introduced when you offer a 24p mode @ 96Hz.

Bottomline is a) both the review and the specs state this is 240Hz panel and b) I don't think anyone that thinks the TV has issues with 1080p/24fps has ever said what exactly it does incorrectly.
