Many people buy on impulse

Many people buy TVs on impulse without spending any time doing research. Friends have asked for my TV recommendation, but they've bought on impluse and ended up with crap. For what it's worth, here is information on my TVs.
1) Sony SXRD 1080p rear-projection 3-LCD that has true 1080p/24 and true 5:5 pull-down and is 120Hz. I have a tough time finding anything I like better. Excellent natural picture with absolutely no motion blur or pixel lag. Simply a stunning picture. The biggest negatives are that it can't be hung on the wall and the off-axis viewing is an issue, but I don't need or do either.
2) My Toshiba Regza 1080p/24 120hz LCD is also quite good. No weird image quality with the 120Hz. Lots of picture/image tweaking options in the menu. Darn good picture.
3) Two Panasonic Plasmas just purchased: TC-P50S2 1080p and TC-42PX24 720p sets. These are the mid-line Plasmas from Panasonic. Escellent picture, very similar to my SXRD. No observable motion lag or pixel blur because Plasmas don't do that. Very happy. Biggest negative is that the menu only has the basic image/picture tweak controls, but I've been able to achieve a really good picture. Hihgly recommend these TVs. How could anyone choose an LED TV over these?
4) Samsung Series 8000 LED 240Hz. I don't own it but my father-in-law does. Nothing against Samsung, but I personally do not like LED colors and the 240Hz is the WORST invention for TV viewing ever! It ruins the image. Is this where TVs are going? Yuch! My two son's can't stand watchng this TV either, and I thought it was just me.
