Can I transport a HDTV horizontally?

I'm thinking of purchasing my first HDTV, probably a Vizio LCD model. However, I don't own a truck, and every time I see someone purchase one of those babies they always have a truck to put it in and get it home. I do, however, have a minivan. Can I simply lay down the middle seat of the minivan and lay the HDTV down, flat on the minivan's seats, in order to transport it to my home? I would probably be taking it about 5 minutes in this way.

Make sure the screen is up, bring some pillows to use as wedges & too add extra padding where needed.

I transported 2 different 50" Panasonic plasmas horizontally on two separate occassions in the back of a Mazda6 with no problems.
