Is there an optical - 5.1 computer speakers adaptor? Would this work?

I also have a GREAT Altec Lansing computer speaker set that I'd look to hook up to my PS3. Is there anyway to use these speakers and get 5.1 sound?

It has the same green/black/yellow plug depicted here (http://www.amazon.com/Console-Adapter-Convert-Plugs-Single/dp/B0006U3ACY).

I could output optical from the PS3, or HDMI, etc.

CORRECTION: Dolby Pro Logic II....Thats why it was invented....and is currently used on things like the Nintendo Wii, which lacks a digital output

As said before, red/white are right and left. Digital coax (orange RCA) or digital optical will give you the same digital source, it just depends on what they accept. Some TVs only output standard audio and won't even pass the digital audio even if you have your HDMI running to it.

Just hook the red and white cables to your TV and that's pretty much what you're stuck with.

As for the PS3, if you can run digital optical out, do that. Otherwise the standard video cable that comes with it and plug the red and white into the Logitec unit.
