cable box keeps cutting out

Hi we recently cut our Comcast digital, HD, dvr, movie package to a digital starter package. When we did this our box was change out to a basic black box about the size of a modem. Since then the cable has been cutting out and resets the box each time. Comcast sent someone out replaced the box and on other occasions reset it while on live chat. None of this has fixed the issue and prior to the reduction in service it had never been an issue. Any ideas? Thanks.

Bad boxes is somewhat the norm

Of course everyone isn't affected, but IME with Comcast, it took 3 different box swaps to get the Moto 6412 working correctly. FWIW, I just downgraded one box to a SD DVR and so far (luckily) it doesn't need to be replaced.

My vote is, try another box and hope for the best. Ideally you would not have to wait for an installer and simply exchange at a local Comcast office. This is a easier way to get what you need IME. Hooking up the downgrades is easier too.
