Price Alerts: Yamaha and Ascend

663 receiver is only $369 shipped from electronics expo. Full HD audio support with pre-outs to add optional outboard amp.

ascend acoustics is discounting $50 from their CBM-170 SE through May 19. Also a 10% discount on accompanying products, such as stands.

A brand new 5.0 system from these brands, including the CMT-340 SE, comes out to $1,200 shipped. Happy hunting.

there are those who say the CBM-170 SE is the most neutral speaker built at under $500. They also say the Sierra-1 is the most neutral speaker at under $1,000. This being a subjective interpretation of 3rd party measurements. The same persons would say the B&W 802D is probably the most neutral speaker made, but we know how much that costs.

Now, buying w/o hearing is a gamble. But I wouldn't mind trying these at one point. They are local to me as well, maybe that makes things easier.

I wouldn't discount them so easily. Some find them too bright, but I wonder if that's the room, or being used to "voiced" speakers. They are smaller as well.
