Home audio & video forum: ps3 to HDMI receiver

Make sure you run through all the settings on both the receiver and the PS3. I have my PS3 connected to my receiver with HDMI and it works perfectly.

The Sony PS3 setup was not a snap, you have to check everything.

The system i have is a sony HT-SS1100 and it instructs me to test all 5 speakers with the provided mic to get sound quality around the room, which worked perfectly and stated COMPLETE on the Receiver.(as said in the manual!)

The HDMI Receiver i have is connected to the tv via a hdmi cable, whlist the optical cable is connected to the ps3 from the receiver with the other hdmi cable.

The manual does mention a coak in DVD cable, but i dont have a DVD player to connect to as i wish to use my PS3 as a dvd player as well as gameing.

When i looked at the trouble shooting guide it said check all connections..which were fine
and make sure the mute button was off...which i did.
Then it said make sure the protective device on the receiver is activated..thats where i got lost!!!

SORRY TO SOUND REALLY STUPID, BUT HOW DO YOU ASSIGN THEM???

under display settings, after you configure your settings for display to use HDMI it asks you to configure your sound settings. You have to select HDMI for sound as well.

Check sound settings and BD/DVD settings as well.

As for your receiver, I don't have that model so it would be impossible for me to know how to enable HDMI on it.

The only thing that I can tell you is that HDMI on HDMI devices are usually not the default settings and must be enabled, whether you are talking about a receiver, a cable or sat box, a TV, or a player or game system. It's dumb I know, but that's the way it is.

I would be willing to bet money that you can get picture and sound through your receiver. It is just a matter of finding the right setting. Sorry I can't be more help.

You might want to call customer support for each device if you get stuck.
