DVD playback problem

commercial DVD movie freezes while playing in standalone unit on tv. Not all, only some,no pattern
help appreciated

I use two methods to resolve this.
1. Clean the DVD itself and toss the CD/DVD lens cleaner into the DVD player.
2. Exchange the DVD for a new one. If I can't then I have to use DVDShrink to duplicate the DVD so it works. In one damaged DVD, this didn't work so a much longer process of DVDShrink was used and I can't tell you that the exact steps except it took 3 days to fix it.
