cable wire for HDTV

Greetings.

I was looking at coaxial cable for a TV installation. The store had both the old-style & a newer version (more expensive) that is indicated for HDTV.

Is there any real or appreciable difference between the capabilites of the cheaper & newer coaxial cable? And if so, does this newer, better cable just have to exist in the run from the source (HDTV box) to the television itself?

Since there is no HD to TV "coax" connection...

You may be confused by the new connections that are used from a HDTV "box" to your HD TV. You'll see HDMI and other cables but so far COAX isn't used since that is used for SDTV or from the cable co to your HDTV "box."

Actually, I sa the two coax cables sid by side...mad by Phillips..the "HDTV" coax was about twice the price of the old style coaxial...

HDTV will not run on coax. Period. Are you sure it was labeled Coax? Between what two devices was this coax intended for?

You can run HDTV on a three cable set that might look like coax and it's called component. It will go between an HD tuner (sat or cable) and an HD TV.

No difference

This is coming from a cable guy. The only difference in the cables if any is the shielding on the cable. Typically what is used is atleast a RG-6 with tri shielding. Quad-shielding is sometimes used if you are expierencing high interference. From my expierence just make sure it's RG-6, not RG-59, and make sure it's atleast tri-shield. Also, avoid all, and I mean all push on connectors. That's what you would want from the wall to the Converter box. As far as from the converter to the TV I'm very partial to the HDMI, mainly due to the less congestion of wires, and of course the picture quality.

Cable

I'm running three tvs and two computers with three tuners, total of six tuners.

right now I have four various splitters, would it be better to have one 6 way with 30' of cable on each or maybe a 'powered' splitter for signal loss.
