We all post about the "best", but what about the "worst" HD channel? My vote goes to TNT HD. Frst, I it looks like everythng is SD material that has been upres'd to HD and nothing appears to originate in HD. That would be OK, but what makes TNT horrible (IMHO) is that they time-compress the hell out of everything so much that all horizontal motion step-frames. If you don't know about time-compression, it's when you take a 60 minute program and compress it by 10 to 12% so more ads can be inserted. When a program is time-compressed too much, it has horrible artifacts that show up as motion skipping. To do time-compression, so many frames of video must be dropped out of every minute of video, resulting in what I see on TNT...all horizontal motion has skipping. I can't watch X-Files on TNTHD because this drives me nuts.
