Home audio & video forum: How do I copy music from the web to my home computer ?!

You probably have a PC instead of a Mac, but do a web search for WireTap Pro (made by Ambrosia Software). I use it on my Mac and I believe it is also available for the PC. It's fairly cheap, but it's a brilliant program and worth every cent. On my Mac, the program will record any audio signal that my computer hears (streaming web audio, DVD audio,etc.), then it saves the audio in the format of choice. I choose .aiff which is compatible with QuickTime, but I know it also saves in .wav format.

Songbird looks pretty cool. I haven't downloaded it yet to try, but one issue I've had with some streaming web audio is that some stations have their own proprietary audio format which locks out a lot of devices that try to tap into the stream unless a fee is paid (like Live365's streaming radio stations). WireTap Pro records any audio that the computer can hear and it doesn't need to tap into their stream. Songbird may do the same. WireTap Pro doesn't have most of the features that Songbird has though. It simply records audio and saves it in the common audio files, and of course you can program it to record at a given time or for a given length.

if its an artist page for myspace.....you can click the "download" button to download their songs. if its someone's profile with a song on there that you like..........you can LEGALLY get that song off places like itunes. it shows the name of the song and the artist, so it is pretty easy to get that music.

taking songs off myspace is like what oldschool people did a long time ago with cassette players and radio. waitting for a song to come on and hitting record and stop.

i'm sorry to say it...but its the digital age..........a simple google search or just $0.99 from itunes can get you pretty much any song you'll need.
