Converting old 8mm movies to CD

Can anyone tell me a good way to convert old 8mm or super 8 movies to CD? I've tried running the movies and video taping them, but the speeds are not right. The movies on the video are all choppy. Or does anyone know of somewhere to pay to get them transferred that will do a reliable job? Thank you. R2

The article presented to you by Mr Profit is a company who is in the business to make $$$$. They do not inform you how to record a fairly good home movie onto DVD. Amongst the many obstacles they only mention losing 50 % frames of movie loss which degrades the quality. However they did not mention how to eliminate this loss as well as light flicker. To eliminate this problem the projector speed and/or shutter speed must be synchronized to agree with your camcorder optical speed..

Not to be too much more helpful, but you can find some C/Net messages on this subject by typing ELIMINATE THE FLICKER in the Search ForumsBox. You will have to do some reading, good luck.

Thanks Marc, that flicker was a problem I had trying to video our 8mm & super 8 movies to convert them to VHS or DVD. I've spent countless hours on this and own about every movie projector I could find to run the movies on, trying to get one that would coordinate with the video camera. No good so far, no matter what I have tried. I know the old movies tapes are getting brittle and if I don't get it done fairly soon, they will be lost. I would enjoy showing them to my grandchildren. Flash, flicker, jerkiness have been a problem, loosing so much quality is sad. JB
