My sister's arrived in 7 business days from her order date. Based on Seko's schedule mine will have been 10 business days. Hope it happens. Although my sister has hers I am a little worried you guys are still waiting to recieve yours. And I'm still waiting. Let me know the date you two ordered. Curious why there is such disparity in our overall situations here.

Can anyone who has received the 505MX tell me which two interface cards come with it. I was told by PriceMad that without the two cards its just a computer monitor.........

Regarding price, my sister and I paid $3,250 each for the monitor, shipping and 3 year Mack warranty. Mine is scheduled to arive in St. Louis on 24 April so I may not actually have it until the 25th or 26th. Regarding video cards I cannot tell you which ones are included but I would say, none (not exactly configured like the out of box 505CMX). Now I must say when I saw my sisters it was mounted to her wall. She had one component (red/blue/green) running out of the monitor to a switching box for her other components. One side of the monitor had multiple connections (RCA plugs yellow/red/white, DVI-I, another component red/blue/green, monitor feed, etc). I believe the 505MX did not have video cards but an integrated board with multiple connections. I think this monitor is a hybrid between the CMX and Elite. I promise to update this thread when I get mine and can actually observe it and have access to the manual. I will tell you that the picture on the 505MX is as good as it gets. Lets hope we get delivery next week. All the best!

I received my 505MX. However when I opened the box the upper left corner was cracked. Apparently the box was dropped. The exterior of the box looked a little crunched but after opening , the styrofoam corner was smashed and the screen was also damaged. Be sure to check it when you receive the box. PriceMad.com has already ordered a replacement. They said it will be here within 2-3 days. That timeframe Im not sure about. Also the 505MX has only a power cable. No other video cables.

I was away on vacation so the damaged set is still here. They shipped another one out to me right away and it was to be delivered on the 5th by 5pm. The shipping company did not get here by 5 and I had things to do to prepare for vacation so I postponed the delivery til the 15th. After what I have been reading on all the cnet posts I am going to call shipping company tomorrow and tell them to return it to sender. I also had called pricemad about not getting any cables and they sent me one they also took $100.00 off the warranty price. Trying to talk to them is like talking to used car salesmen. They swear that the 505MX is the same as the 1130. I dont believe that. It seems that they have must have bought a whole lot of these 505MX at close out prices and they are trying to unload them on buyers who are not electronically savy. I believe that we should all contact the NYC Better Business Bureau and lodge a complaint about them. Also I would like to ask how is it that Pioneer reps dont know anything about this model. Its made by their company. It has their logo on the set and its packaged by them.???????????? Whats up with that??

Just recieved the replacement unit after the initial shipment came in damaged. This time no damage, but it appears the composite video input does not work (I probaly don't need anyway) and a pixel is already burned out (barely noticable). I have not set the unit up, but just performed a preliminary check in my gagage. I hooked up my standard DVD player through the s-video conection and the picture was beatiful. Provided the DVI conections works, I think I will be keeping my unit and see if I can get a few hundred dollars back from PriceMad for my troubles.

The manual I recieved would suggest it was actually intended for the Canadian market. French is the second language, not spanish.

Yes after playing around with it earlier I got compsite, S-Video and Conponent all to work. My HD service is not coming till next week, but so far I am thinking this is a really cool TV.

Best luck to you all, but my experience with the broken TV return with Price Mad was very good.

Does your Pro 505mx have the elite glass?

Would you buy the PDP 5060hd or the PRO 505mx, if you had the opportunity to do it again?

Did you send in your manufactures warranty to Pioneer or have you tried to register with pioneer online?

Did you receive your extended warranty?

Did it come with any video cards?

I have not received my Pro 505mx and I am very confused about this model and what makes it such a great deal?

Would I be making a mistake by accepting delivery of the Pro 505MX that pricemad.com says is the best deal out there?

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm pretty sure that the 505 series Pioneer Plasmas are great displays, particularly when fitted with the Key Digital Explorer card with 4 HDMI inputs etc. etc. It does seem odd that hardly anyone in the States had ever heard of this model until recently, and now suddenly every internet seller out there has a back room full of them. It's like someone found an old abandoned warehouse somewhere in Brazil full of the things, bought em for 500 bucks apiece and is flooding the market with them. I found the following on the Brit AV Forum (Hope they don't mind). They're already looking forward to the 700 series of industrials and were still being fed the 500s! Cheers, Jon

Q: When did these models come out?
A: Pioneer series 5 (435/505) released in UK in Sept 2004. Pioneer series 6 (436/506) released in Sept 2005. The 436 RXE/SXE were released in early 2006.

Q: When are the next models coming out?
A: Upcoming:

* Pioneer PDP-5000EX: There is a 5,000 new 50" coming out around July with a 1920x1080 native resolution at 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. It will be display only (i.e. no built in tuner). The official press release is here.
* PDP-507HX (1365x768) - stand model with integral connections and tuners (no seperate box) - details here. Expected in the UK in October 2006.
* PDP-427HX (1024x768) - stand model with integral connections and tuners (no seperate box) - details here. Expected in the UK in October 2006.
* It is expected that there will be a 42"/43" model supporting 1080p natively coming in mid-2007.

I ordered the PDP 5060 HD from pricemad.com and I was called by a sales rep. (Jack ex. 215) who recommended the PRO 505MX.
He told me that it had newer technology, the elite glass,better resolution and the 1yr manufacturers warranty. The price I paid $3999 with shipping, tilt wall mount, 2 video cards and 3yr warranty seems much higher than what you paid. I called and questioned the price and was told that the $2699 did not include the video cards which can cost an additional $199 for the basic card plus $899 for the card that allows for the HD cable to function. Since all this technolgy stuff is new to me I have no idea if I just paid $749 more for the same thing you got. What do you think?

Well I am convinced of one thing. We were all sold a line of bull to some degree. I'm one of the lower price people so I'm lucky I suppose. FYI, my monitor came in a mint factory sealed box. Monitor is new in excellent shape. It has 5 inputs but only three are of any use to me (Component, Composite/S video and DVI-D). I am using all three. The component (red/blue/green) gives the sharpest brightest picture, 3-D amaizing, which registers 720p at FH44.9/VH59.95. The DVI-D gens up an excellent image at 1280 X 720 and FH44.9/VH59.95. S Video is very good for DVD and non HD stations. I have my HD cable connected and it is amazing. ESPN HD has me hooked. Regarding the PDP-505MX, I really believe the unit is the same quality as the PDP-5060 but lacks the media box with all of the connections (which I wish I had). I am happy with my 505MX but is is not as good as it was advertised to be. FYI I cannot add or subtract computer boards with my monitor. What I have today is what I'll have years from now. I would urge any new buyer to purchase the PDP-505CMX as it has functionality to change and expand (505MX does not). I'm curious how the higher priced 505MXs are configured. Does anyone have the PRO Kit? I was told by Pricemad that I do but I know I do not. I have a very nice monitor that was discontinued before it was released. Do You have more inputs and better resolution? Please advise.

I got my TV two weeks after my order. I did not open that yet because my technician was not available to install. I am going to have it installed on this Friday. I paid $4597 for the entire unit( Item#5673) that includes three years warranty and shipping charges. The advertisement on the pricemad for PDP-505MX is displayed as 50 Inch WXGA Plasma Display HDTV Pioneer-PRO505MX Pro Kit. But the display on the box I got shows as just PDP-505MX.
Pioneer has two classes of plasma TVs first one is ELITE models starts with prefix PRO (like PRO1130HD) and the other model is Pioneer model which starts with PDP( like PDP 5060). I was actually planning to buy ELITE PRO 1130 model, but they said it was not covered by warranty and advised me to go for 505MX saying that it is PRO505MX pro Kit. They told me that it is far superior than Elite 1130 model and warranty is covered on that. I was convinced over the phone and bought the 505MX for $4597/-( without side speakers) against the price $5999/- displayed on the pricemad.
To my understanding the model name displayed for item#5673 is not existing any where as PRO505MX . This clearly indicates something is fishy with this model. When I called pricemad and enquire about the price variations, they say that others are just buying ordinary PDP 505M monitors not the complete PROKIT. I really dont know what this means.
I make an appeal to all those who bought this TV and seek justice. Lets exchange our contact information and find out the real facts about this model. Please send mails to rexhogan2003@yahoo.com. After all this is not a small investment to try risks. We really didnt take risks but we believed people.

Lets hope for the best. But i dont understand why you are the only one on the earth trying to support 505MX taking your sister's example.
I would be happy if things are straight and simple. I was planning to buy ELITE 1130 HDTV after my careful research.You wouldnot understand the pain and tension when your investment is at risk. The plasma TV is not just for me....it is for my family. I dont want imagine the disappointment they face if anything goes wrong this. We dont want to suffer those waiting times for repairs, returns, shippings and etc., Infact this is the first big lesson for me on the internet.

i was very interested to see the comments you guys made on this TV. i am an electonics novice and had the exact same experience as ohters did with the pdp505 and pricemad. they called me as well, and changed my mind to this tv. i paid $4499 for the pro kit which included cables mack 3 year warranty and wall mount. my tv came in perfect brand new condition, and was on time.

i am a bit nervous that this does not have the hdmi hook up. am i correct assuming that the $50 component box will allow other hook ups? Please elaborate if you can. This is my first plasma, and maybe my first internet purchase that i got duped on....

i may call pricemad and see what they can do on the price.

This TV is capable of a 10,000:1 ratio, but you have to pay someone who knows what they are doing to come out and tweek your system. I think that's the same situation with the billions of colors. Someone said something about the Geeks at Best Buy can do it for a price. I just don't know how much. But, of course, the salesmen at PriceMad didn't tell me that, they only said that it had 10,000:1 contrast ratio and blah-blah-blah. He should have said it was CAPABLE but NOT INCLUDED!!!! It seems that they are dicking everyone around on the price, too. It might just be that they determine what to charge you on the 505MX based upon your original TV selection that they sway you from purchasing. So the lower cost your original selection was, the better your deal; the higher, it's a worse deal. Uggghhh!!!
