How to connect sound system to Panasonic plasma tv?

I have a surround sound system hooked up to my DVD player. Got a Panasonic plasma TV and the audio inputs are cables (DVD player audio & video hooked up to TV), whereas the sound system just has wires that go those little things where you open up the audio input and stick the wire in. TV doesnt have that - needs plug-type cables, no places to just stick wires in (like old stereo system speaker inputs).

How can I get the TV audio to hook up to the surround sound?

I have a panasonic plasma too. If you have surround speakers, you shouldn't need to put audio into the tv at all- just the video via the component video cables (3 cables: blue, green and red) or the HDMI. The HDMI actually does carry both video and audio. All of your audio connections should just go straight from the component and into the receiver. If you have an older receiver, you may need to get an external multi-switch to handle all of the video outputs and still be able to get the best possible performance out of your tv by using component connections and or HDMI connections as often as possible. I'm upgrading to the Denon 2807 (arrives at my door today) to make things easy by simply running every single component into my receiver and then have only one HMDI wire out to the TV.

First off what is your vidio sourse outside antenna, cable or satillate box, If you are using just an outside antenna then hook up audio out left and right on the t.v. r,c,a, cables to stereo input on the amp. remember its just going to be 2 channel stereo, If you have a cable or sat box they will have audio out to the amp. or better yet if your box and amp have optical connections use them for 5.1. sound hope this helps you out if you still need help please post back and give us more information on all your equipment model # make have a nice weekend stewart
