MP3 players forum: mp3 for the blind

mp3 for the blind

i am a student at the FL school for the blind and i want a hd player witch is simple to operate (no scroll wheel) and navigate (easy to remember menus), any suggestions?

Unfortunately there is none that I know of... I mean, it isn't the sort of thing that people really look for and clue into about a player.

If you have many blind contacts on the internet it may be best just to ask among them for their personal experiences with MP3 players.

HD player for the blind

I recently broke my Neuros's screen. All it showed was the backlight and a blob of LCD goo. It still played music just fine, so I decided to just use it 'blind.'
Once I knew the interface by memory, it was quite easy to search for artists and find individual tracks. You would have to have somebody help you learn the intricacies of the menus, but the four directional 'joystick' is precise, and there aren't many buttons that overlap their functionality. You can skip through artist's or song title's first letter by pressing the fast forward or rewind buttons. The way it broadcasts, is simple, so all you would have to do is unplug the headphones and it would play. There is even a community of people who might be able to make a version of the firmware special for you to make it easier to know what is going on. Maybe by audible beeps or something?

They have NO display anyway. five buttons on the front to memorize and two functions for the switch on the back: straight trough play and random play. They come in 512 and a gig. And they're cheap. They sound good and they're durable. Not a single better choice for a blind dude.

BTW is the Ray soundtrack sung by Ray Charles or Jamie Foxx, heard some crazy rumors that Jamie Foxx was singin. Sweet!
