I bought a secondhand Sony Walkman NWZ-S638F and it is in DEMO mode, probably from when it was a retailers display model, the Home screen says DEMO instead of HOME. It appears to work fine apart from it goes to demo when nothing selected for a minute or so.The seller didn't know how to take it off and Sony so far have not been very helpful. They have just replied and they said the retailer uses software to put it into Demo mode, which I find hard to believe, as I have spoken to a Sony retailer and they have never heard of any such software. There also doesn't seem to be any solutions on the web, though other people have asked the same question. I have tried a reset which made no difference I have also managed to access the test mode but can't see anything obvious under the options available. Does anyone know how to put it back to normal mode or if reloading the firmware would put it back to normal? or maybe a good site to download the service manual free (Not the user manual!),in case it is in there? Does this software actually exist and if so what is it, so that i may be able to download it somewhere? I have never struggled to get technical problems solved via the internet before but this is like dealing with a secret society! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
