Not sure what mp3 player to buy

I think I want a mp3 player............mainly for music, but then I sort of think one with internet & email on it would be handy for holidays.
I was thinking Apple ipod touch, but then heard its not much good if you don't have a free wifi connection say in your hotel...is that the case.
Are there optional extras you can buy with the touch to ink up to a hotel internet connection??

Also heard that if downloading music with the Apple you need an Apple computer to download from to your ipod touch.
We just have an ordinary pc.
Are there lots od additional costs with the ipod touch.

Any suggestions & advice are welcome.

It's better with wifi...

I haven't used the touch myself (I wanted something for the gym, and the touch was too big for that), but I know you don't need a mac to be able to use it; a windows based PC is fine. There are also a bunch of apps that you can use without a wifi connection, just check to make sure the ones you want fall into that category (you can check through iTunes on windows). You obviously won't be able to use the web browser, though.

Swiss army knife of MP3 players. Connectivity is via Wi-Fi only; no ethernet or other wired capability built in to the device. Compatible with any Windows PC; not limited to Macs. Works with content from any number music download sites (Amazon, Rhapsody, iTunes Music Store, Zune Marketplace, etc.), but only iTunes Music Store will allow you to download directly to the Touch (via Wi-Fi). Biggest draw are the apps available for the device.

I'm using Ipod Touch. and Really love it. so far didnt have any prob with it.

since you are asking for a mp3 which delivers good sound quality and internet. i would recommend zen xfi. it has wireless lan and provides wonderful audio, and it is quite cheap compared to ipod touch which has loads of apps but inferior audio.
