Replaced 5th Gen iPod Battery...still dead after 30 minutes

by amizany - 3/31/09 5:06 PM

My iPod Video 5th Gen dies super super fast. Even replaced the battery and it does the same thing.

I own a 5th Gen iPod Video. A while ago, the battery all of the sudden started draining FAST. It got to the point where I would grab it fully charged, play one song and have the battery meter drained like 10%. By the time I'm done with a 20 minute warm up at the Gym, its down to the "red" and totally dead by the time I start lifting weights. Soon after it wouldn't charge or even turn on anymore.

So, I figured I would buy a replacement battery, which was VERY easy to install, and my iPod worked and I was able to fully charge it.... HORSE ****!!! It worked and charged, but still drained all the way down to the red within 20-30 minutes again. WTF?

Is this a hardware failure? Do I need a firmware update? I love the 5G iPod and dont want to buy a new one if I can fix this.

I have searched many iPod threads and surprisingly have not found anyone else with this problem or any artcles about this being an issue with the 5G iPod Video.

Any advice?????
