MP3 players forum: How to download music to a Generic MP3 player ?

Are you downloading purchased songs from the Rhapsody service? Or are they subscription tracks? Either way, you need to use a supported player and you would need to download and use the Rhapsody software to authorize the player and download tracks to it. Most generic players aren't supported. Additionally, you would need to have the "to go" version of Rhapsody in order to transfer subscription music to an mp3 player. Otherwise, they would need to be purchased tracks.

If you want to purchase music downloads, try to find them drm-free if possible. They don't have copy protection that limits them to which players they can be transferred to. Some songs on Rhapsody are drm-free - I believe there is a category somewhere on it named "mp3 downloads." Also, Amazon also sells mp3 downloads. If you're buying songs individually rather than full album you don't even have to download any additional software.

Otherwise, purchased tracks can be burned as an audio cd, then take that cd and rip it back onto your computer.
