iPod touch Jailbreak warranty

I am looking into getting an ipod touch, and I am interested in the jailbreak to have 3rd party apps for now, before official apps are available through apple. Will jailbreaking the device using jalbreakme.com permanently void the warranty? I know that this question has been asked by many other people on many other forums, but I have heard conflicting reports, that it voids it only if the problem is related to the jailbreak, that restoring restores the warranty, that restoring doesn't restore the warranty, that apple doesn't care if you do it, and a whole bunch of other versions of the same stories. Which one is correct? And, will the jailbreak apps stop working when apple releases the SDK and people start writing "official" apps ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

will void your warranty. No exceptions. Until the SDK gets out from Apple, you won't be seeing any installs or hacks that won't void the warranty. Go read the signs at the Genius Bar if you must. I have heard some people say that they could fool Apple people to work on their Touch even if they voided the warranty, but that answer is probably sitting around here somewhere or on Google; easy method to understand I suppose, but it is discouraged.

So yes, you will void the warranty regardless of which method you choose to "jailbreak" it. Or, you could be smart and wait for apps to come through iTunes. I'm holding out for the SDK, since I really don't need anything installed on mine at the moment, so I plan to have a working Touch after this cat and mouse game ends (if it ever does).
If you want more features with hacks, you could try the Archos 605, though it'll take a bit more out of the pocketbook.
