PVP for travel: Archos 605 vs 705

by ManxTwo - 10/7/07 4:58 PM

I am in the market for a PVP. I've only owned iPods in the past, but the screen size is too small, and we all know they are not optimized for video. The iPod Touch is too expensive for such a small flash drive and its screen is also to small. People tell me go with Archos.

I'm looking for the following in order of what I need:
1. Able to watch movies for > 4 hours at a time without headache.
2. Portability.
3. Hard drive space (50 movies at least, full-length).
4. Able to use in a car on long trips.
5. Worth the price tag.
6. Wi-Fi not mandatory but nice.

I figure the 605, except the screen is small and I fear I can't use it for the car (for the kids, that is, unless there's some way to output the video to something else in a car?). And the 705 is going to be big and bulky both in size and price.

Also needs to be Mac-compatible.

So, any suggestions? I would also consider the iPod classic, but it misses my needs on several items. Are there other MP3 players out there worth considering?

Thanks
