MP3 players forum: Archos 604 help

Ok I have been researching portable video players all week. I have a Dell DJ 20 Gig that only does mp3's music only no video. I have Tivo and Tivo to go which lets you transfer shows from your Tivo's to your computer but it is in Tivo format. I was told if buy Tivo to go plus for 25 bucks I can convert my shows to Mpeg4 and they will work on this device. My laptop is too big to carry around all the time. I also downloaded an AVI movie but on here will it not play unless I buy that 20 dollar plug in?

I had been looking at the 604 and 704 Wi Fi 30 gigs. I figured I have this Dell DJ full of all my music and even my cell phone with my 1 gig card plays mp3's and will even do a movie if in the right format but that is a small screen. I read lots of reviews and the 30 gig 604 is in my price range then I see Spet. 1st 605 coming out. So I call Archos find out 605 is thinner has better resolution and comes with a qwerty keyboard which to me in the picture at Crave looked really big. But I decided since the 604 got good reviews 605 has to be just as good even better so I decided to wait. I know around the corner will probably be a 705 but even though the screen is bigger I like the size of the 605.

Amazon you can get the 605 now if you order now it will be shipped on 8/27. Well I then figured I might as well go for the 80 49.99 more but that way I can use it for both music music videos movies Tivo Shows Pictures everything. My main reason for wanting it was to watch a movie or music video and my Tivo shows. A prize fight on C-Net between Archos and this one brand Cowon who I never heard of said the Cowon doesn't support Tivo to go which makes me think this does and hopefully I won't have to buy the plus and convert it to Mpeg but even if I do as long as it will play this will be so cool. I don't want the ipod screen to small and this player got good reviews everywhere I went.

My last thing is should I preorder from Amazon or just wait till the 1st and order directly through Archos? Archos said there being shipped to Amazon on the 1st I don't know. Amazon claims they have the 30 gig ones already. But If Archos ships me one on the 1st I may get it quicker then Amazon I don't know. I could probably get buy with the 30gig or even the 4 gig with sd slot if I keep my music on the Dell DJ but why have 2 devices? Hopefully I'll end up selling my Dell DJ and using this only. So then I keep saying to myself heck I am spending this much money why not get the 160 it's only 30 dollars more which is what I'll probably do. I wish I could use the opera browser though to sign in to Sirius and listen to my music. I have Opera on my cell phone so I am used to it and I know this browser will fo pretty much what my cell phone does with Opera.

This looks like a nice video player. I hope I like it!! I am sure I will. Since I have Tivo and this Tivo to go I have no use for the dosckling station but I do want an AC adapter. Rose
