SAMSUNG YH-925 cannot initialize HDD

SAMSUNG YH-925

I had the device plugged in without doing anything and after a number of minutes, the following message comes up:

Initial fail
The device can not initialize HDD.
Please connect to adaptor and try again

I tried connecting as stated and the same message. I tried rebooting and the same thing. I'm not sure how to get it to initialize again.
