MP3 players forum: Why Does Everyone Like Apple?

yeah right.....i just dont like them, mostly since i get kinda pissed off when everyone has the same thing. ipods make EVERY company want to be better, and quickly, so they release a BS half-baked player with potential to wipe out the ipod, but with flaws that concern everyone. i swear this to you. if sony had taken a few more months, made SonicStage actually work, brovided accessories, worked out the cracked buttons, lessened the price and ADVERTISED, then the Sony would be cleaning the floor with ipod nano's.

Apple, as I said earlier and was put into better terms by someone else, is idiot-proof(great choice of words. made me laugh). Apple is for people who don't want to do research, and want something that works easily. the ipod can be figured out without an instructional manual, even for the electronically illiterate.

The iPOD market is driven by women, uninformed men, and early teenage children who want to look cool, and fit in around there friends.
Sure the ipod does its job as a music player, and it does look quite cool. But the fact of the matter is they are very limited by software and they are over-priced.
With just half an hour of research and checking out the comparison section of cnet, anyone with half a brain could figure out that Ipod is not the way to go....

Well I am looking for a total package ... which includes high quality accesories.. I want a selection and I want a lot of um ... that is the iPod.

I also want something that works and works well and works easy since this is for my wife who by-the-way is not a sap or a half brain, she holds two Masters but she is also a person who likes technology to use .. not to play with. I play with this stuff .. she just wants it to work.

And last I'm starting to think I may buy 2 .. one for myself too ... and maybe replace my daughters Dell DJ with an iPod .. just to hack you people off that think the other 70+% of us are wrong...

let's face it. if you've bought an iPod, it's probably not because you went online and researched it, but because a vast amount of people around you already have it. You were influenced by others and what the public has accepted as popular and cool. The iPod is another fad, it's the new ''it'' thing. Guaranteed, this will pass, and something cooler will come out and it will be iPod... what's that? I am not saying that it is not a good piece of technology, to those who have looked at it, and appreciate it as an MP3 player, and know what it contains, they know it is, but that it is the hot item to have, and apple was at the right place at the right time - they've got the right look, the right advertising - but have you ever seen commercials on TV for an iPod? They don't have to pay for advertising because it's all over, ''everyone'' has one, those who don't, see it and want one. So not everyone ''likes'' apple, or iPods. And for the people who do, they do for different reasons, maybe you're an MP3 nut and you love the technology and design, but then again, you might just be the guy who bought one because ''everyone'' else has one.

I'm not degrading anyone's opinion, but doesn't everyone have a backspace and shift key on their keyboard? When I try to read a posting and it has no uppercase letters, or has misspellings because of a missed key or transposed letters, I go on to the next posting. Slow down and read before you click that submit button.

You are really off, you said "right product, at the right price, at the right time." That sounds like the reasons why Microsoft owns the world and very few use apple. Why you seem to think that windows users are jealous of the ipod is beyond me because there are more windows users with ipods than mac users with them. I had a mac for years and i could not stand it, it was a piece of junk that wasnt compatible with the rest of the world. I was limited to only being able to surf the web and chat on AIM. That didnt cut it for me so i made the switch and am fine with windows even though it has tons of flaws and maybe more than osx. Because i now have a computer that has form AND function unlike a mac

Apple does some great works, but their Nano is an absolute joke. They spent too little time on it, didnt do tests AT ALL. The battery is weak, their front anti-scratch resistance is the easiest thing to ruin, and there are tons of problems with it.

The ipod is an ok player, its small, and easy to use both with mac and pc. I dont think its a bad player but i truly believe that others are better.

My biggest beef with the ipod is the pitiful battery life only the 2g mini had decent battery life but with all the others its just never enough. The second thing is lack of features and what it comes with in the box. My friend bought his nano and was surprised it didnt come with a wall adapter. If you are gonna pay 250 there is no reason to not have an ac adapter.

When i bought a Rio Karma it came with an amazing dock that plugged into the stereo and had networking capabilities. I saw a third party ipod accesory that did the same thing except the networking and was upwards of 80 dollars.

I dont think the ipod is for idiots. its for people who put more stock in looks then they do functionality, features, battery life, and bang for the buck.

I never timed how long the battery life was, I was guessing. It looks like CNET got 11 hours in their tests on the Micro, whereas the Ipod got 21 hours and the Carbon got 20 hours. Even the Nano got over 15 hours.

I realize that you can use WMP or Musicmatch, I'm just saying that I didn't like Creative's software. I don't have any problem with people liking products other than the Ipod, just with people putting down Ipod buyers as "uninformed," etc. Personally, I just didn't like the Micro.

I know that i wouldn't call the ipod an idiot player but i agree that it is "idiot-proof" meaning simple and easy to use. Although i won't be buying an ipod i have considered it and was plannin on getting a nano. A look at my friends less than a week old scratched and battered nano and seeing the less than stellar battery life changed my position on these. Although neat i think that if you really look there are much better alternatives.
