MP3 Players with Bookmarks

I had bought a Rio Carbon. I loved the features, but unfortunately had to give it back because of reliability problems.

One feature of the Rio Carbon that I liked is Bookmarks. Bookmarking is useful for listening to long audio files (like podcasts) and in the middle of the podcast, wishing to take a break and listen to music. By setting a bookmark, you can then later resume listening to the podcast at exactly the point you left off.

My question is: Do any other MP3 player (especially flash-based players) support bookmarking? Or will I have to try buying another Rio Carbon, hopefully one without the lockup problems I had experience.

There is still another useful feature that applies in this respect: this means autoresume. Namely, you close your mp3 reader and when you open it up again it starts exactly from where you put it off. Both (bookmarks and autoresume) are essential to me because usually I don't listen to music but to talk (news, comments, theater, literature at large, history etc)which I record with Total Recorder from the BBC radio internet site. Unfortunately both features are rare and scarcely mentioned. In order to find a mp3 player corresponding to my requirements I have turned to E-bay and bought a xaiox (previously called vaiox) miniplayer which I use with full satisfaction. It is relatively expensive: if you find a cheaper alternative, please let me know, in case I will need another player.

Actually, if you look at some of the newer flash bases mp3 players, "Auto Resume" is pretty much standard now on most mp3 players. I know Creative has it on most of it's players, as well as some other well known brands.

So, you pretty much have nothing to worry about. But if your thinking about buying from a lesser known brand, it will still help to check the description, and to check if you can upgrade the firmware.

It allows bookmarking of songs, up to 50. And it auto-resumes. Which rocks.
