However I fear you've fallen for a common trap. That is, many dive in like you are forget that to fix this we need the service manual and parts. AVSFORUM for example has many folk that want to fix it themselves but the cost to set up your repair shop is more than a replacement unit.
It has come down to this. I don't want to waste your time so my advice is if you can't find the manual or prior discussions and can't figure out from that it's dead then I'll be a little more clear at the risk of offending you.
Get your content out, then replace the unit.
