Trying to upload 8mm videos to PC

I have a Sony Handycam Vision that uses 8mm video tapes. I am trying to upload them to my computer so I can burn DVD's. I bought, years ago, Dazzle DVD Recorder by Pinnacle and I can't seem to get it to recognize or "see" my camcorder when I plug it in to my computer. I have a Dell computer.

I'm thinking the Dazzle is probably useless to me. It was bought years ago and the software causes problems to my computer when I load it. have never been able to use it since I bought it.

What recommendations does anyone have to get my videos up on my computer so I can burn them to DVD's. Is there just a simple cable I need to get?

Any direction is much appreciated!

I don't suggest a cable.

I use one of those HDD DVD RECORDERS. The PC can rip content from DVD later if need be. There are some hundred USB video capture cables and I will not be the one to recommend any.
