Need advice on new camcorder

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has experience with my present camcorder (which is very nice) the Canon Vixia HF10. More specifically, I was doing some research on the newer camcorders in terms of video sharpness, and I noted that spec, sensor-wise the newer camcorders are not much better, but I am finding it difficult to view sample videos and real world data comparing these.

If anyone could recommend a camcorder model (mid range, not over 800 dollars) that would give me a definite improvement in image quality please advise me.

In this category you are limited by cost. Not only the sensor but the lens. To do better you need bigger lenses, and maybe a bigger sensor. At 800 bucks did you test drive a DSLR? (t4i or t3i)?
