JVC HD Recorder visual not displaying

I have a JVC GZ-MG20U HD recorder. I went to record and there is no visual on the screen. I know this is an old recorder, but would like to know if this is the CCD image sensor and if so, does that mean the recorder is worthless now (i.e. more expensive to fix than replace). Any info would be appreciated. happy

I think the reset hole is on page 52 of link.

As to worth, when folk are used to such things I've told them to find another one on Ebay. Yup. A few there.

I did try the reset button. No success. sad

I'm not used to this camera enough that getting another one is that big of a deal. Any you would recommend?

The needs are not clear but I'm really enjoying using these 2 cameras as camcorders (heresy! they shout!)

A Canon PowerShot A1300 (99 bucks, has viewfinder, etc.) and a Canon T3i. I might not consider a camcorder again for my needs. And then we have our phone. Video link follows.

Keep playing it as the first part is the front facing camera and later the better camera. The sample is overcompressed for youtube so get more videos before thinking it's that bad.
