Camcorders forum: Remove Chinese language on Sony dcr sr45

I just need someone with the same camera to give me a step by step instruction on how to change. The call center were hopeless. What is need is something like the following......
>> click home
>> click 3rd menu button on bottom etc etc

And the call center usually is pretty good. I've used the one in the USA but only on USA product. On non US product you should have your Chinese speaking friend call or you might be frustrated.

An English device, even with other languages still shows how to change the language in the manual.

Since that is in the ROM or code of the device and we can't remove that, the answer is no to that idea.

Maybe the cheap exit is to sell it and get one in your language. I'm a little confused here. How could you get a Chinese model and not have someone you know that reads or speaks Chinese?

Maybe I have expressed myself incorrectly. I have English as a language on this device but my 2 year old son pressed the factory reset button and the language went from English to chinese. Now I need to get it back to english but I cant see what I am doing to do this.

It appears you don't need to read Chinese to change it. I see ICONS on the directions.

I am nearly there!

I can get to HOME.....SETTINGS but that is as far the icons will take me.

From there it is guesswork and Chinese.

It appears some will not try item by item. I don't feel that's wrong but here, given the story and the lack of support I would sit down and guess my way through.

When you first open the menu, touch the icon in the lower right of the screen.

The upper right button on the touch screen *should* be Clock/Language... according to the Handbook.

In there you'll either be able to set the clock or change the language. English should be the first selection.

Another choice is to use the Reset button - refer to page 97 in the Handbook. That will take the camcorder back to factory defaults.

Thanks for the report. Sorry but I don't have this model at home or office and no one else it seems so we are stuck with the manual and perseverance.
