How to: minidv tapes onto laptop when camera dv port broken

I have a sony mini dv camera and about 10 tapes which I have not yet put onto the laptop. I used to use Windows movie maker with a 4 pin to 4 pin firewire cable but the socket on the camera is broken and no longer connetcs properly. Is there another way of importing these tapes into windows movie maker?

Obviously, you need hardware that can read such a tape AND connects to the PC. So the 2 ways I see:
1. Have the camera repaired.
2. Rent a mini dv camera for one day and do the copy.
Choose the one you like most (for costs, easy, speed, whatever).
