Problem with Canon ZR850

I'm trying to load video from my Canon ZR850 to my computer and am having some issues.
I bought a firewire cable from Best Buy and have plugged it into the DV port of the camera. (IEEE-1394 FireWire 6/4-pin Cable) Plugged the other end into a firewire port which I installed in my Dell Dimension E521 computer.
I turn the camera to playback mode, like the manual says, and then load Windows Movie Maker (On Windows Vista.)
No "Import" Prompt comes up at all. When I click on "Import from digital camera" I get a message that says "Import Video could not find a compatible device."
I've tried turning the camera on first, THEN connecting it to the computer, which didn't help. Also, tried connecting to AC power instead of running off battery.
In my device manager, it does list an IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controller. When I click the plus sign beside that, it says AGERE OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller. I'm pretty sure this means the Firewire port is being recognized and is turned on?
Any help on what I'm doing wrong would be GREATLY appreciated - thanks!
