Transferring HD-DV tapes to PC

Hi Guys (and gals), I'm hoping you can assist as I'm at the end of my tether !
I recently video'd a friends wedding using a hired Sony HVR 1000E. I am now left with 4 hours of footage on HD-DV tapes that I cannot transfer to my PC or disc. I borrowed a friends DV camcorder but as it is not HD it will not play the tapes or allow them to be transferred.
Can anyone help or suggest a professional that could ? Most that I've found via the web either cannot help because it is HD-DV rather than just DV tapes or want to charge hundreds of pounds !
I'm not after charity but I don't want to pay an exorbitant amount. Oh, I'm based in the south of England.

How about hiring that camcorder again for a day? Be sure you have both the hardware and the software to copy it to your hard disk.

And, after that, be sure you have the software to make a nice HD movie from it. And software to convert it to a some format she can play. For example BR DVD format (you'll need a BR burner then also). But the bride may agree to another format that she can play on her PC or Mac (using her favorite player) or her HDTV. If that happens to be a Sony there even is a chance that it can play the movie without conversion.

Also realise that 4 hours of HD movie takes a lot of disk space. You might need an external hard disk to deliver it.
