Software for Canon HFM301 & ImageMixer 3 SE

I was having problems getting the video editor (ImageMixer) for the digicam to work. The tech support said to uninstall two programs--the K-Lite codec pack, and a Roxio Media Manager. The program started working again, but I'm wondering what I can do now--should I look for other codec packs? Or did it have nothing to do with the codecs, but with Roxio's program only? I suppose I can simply install the codecs and see if anything breaks, but I'd rather hear from others who know about this software first.

Why did you need those codecs?

If the answer is "to play .___ encoded files" then my answer is "Use VLC PLAYER."

Yes... FLV files in particular.

Although VLC comes with its own codecs, doesn't it, so that would be the same as installing K-lite, wouldn't it?

Only one way to see, but like I said, I'd like to see if others have had similar issues. If not, then I'll experiment with what programs/codecs will break the video editor.

VLC's codecs do not interfere like the rest.

Was trying to keep things simple on the family desktop (simple=Windows Media Player), but I can install another one and tell everyone, don't worry, those orange cones on your computer are a good thing! cool
