Have to use Firewire or can you use USB?

Do you have to use the Firewire connection on a camcorder to transfer video to a computer? Or can you use the USB? I know Firewire is probably better/faster. But if you do not have a Firewire port, can you use USB?

You can use USB to transfer video to your computer, but if you want to transfer your edited video mack to your camcorder you need a firewire cord. If you don't have a firewire port you can by a card with the port. With firewire you can also control your camcorder through your computer. (fast f.rewind pause and etc.)

My JVC does that with USB 2.0

I can pause, play, back and forth just fine.

I have to use the supplied application, but such does not require firewire.

u can use any but its apt to you what quality you want. if you want for good quality use firewire! for example, firewire is DVD quality (720 x 480pixels) and USB s VCD quality (352 x 240pixels) notice the big difference in terms of pixels.

I think what your saying is that you do not have a firewire port on your computer. If thsi is what you are saying yes you can use usb the get a usb to frewire adapter this should work.
