Camcorder Hunting Around $500

Hey guys I need a little help in finding the right camcorder for me. The use will be anything and everything in reality, I just need the camcorder to be flexible but still having quality to sound/picture and support third party programme editting.

Below are the features I'd like,

HD
Mic-in jack
Good low light quality
Good bright light quality
HDD - potentially miniDV but am unsure

If you could help at all that'd be awesome.

ALL camcorders can do well in "bright", good, light.

In your price range, "low light" video quality won't be very good (small lenses and single small imaging chip) and capture grainy video.

I have not recommended hard disc drive camcorders for a long time. Your budget does not allow for miniDV tape/HDV format (Canon HV40; Sony HDR-HC9).

I'm pretty sure the cams you find in your price range that are High Definition with a mic jack will be limited to the Canon HF M300 series and below... including lesser-priced, less-featured, "pocket" camcorders (Sany Xacti), point and shoot DSC cams that happen to capture video as a convenience feature (Kodak Zi8) and a new, interesting, entrant... Zoom Q3HD.

Video captured by all can be edited by third party editors - if the combination of the computer and the editing application can deal with the captured file type. There is no camcorder made that comes with any useful software (especially for editing) in the box.

At this point, we have no information on your computer or planned editing environment...

no hard drive, but get a 32gb sdhc and youll be set. otherwise it has everything you want. if you want ease of editing shoot in 6oi instead of 60p
