What features do you prefer and a tripod and why?

I'm looking to get a tripod that is reliable and easy to use. Preferably I want it to cost less than $100 and highten to my height which is 5.9 feet or 69 inches.

...its height can be adjusted ... I suggest that you buy one with vertical and horizontal "level" indicators ...(two small glass tubes with liquid).

what your budget is - or what camcorder you are using.

For the low-end, check the SunPak Platinum Plus (BestBuy). No fluid head, but that can be changed - and it exceeds your height requirement.

For the high end, the K-Pod tripod system is amazing (and likely overkill as it was designed to support their crane).

You need to get the quick-release plate separately and the accessory selection (hard or air-filled or dolly-track wheels, spike feet, aan adjstable seat (I can stand on this tripod, that is how strong it is), and the Hercules fluid-head make for a great kit and the case is impressive, but it is very heavy (60+ pounds?).

There are a bunch of Bogen-Mafrotto or Libec selections in between the two...
