sony handycam DCR-DVD201E with imagemixer

can someone please help.. i have a sony Handycam DCR-DVD201E i have installed the driver and the image mixer .. i am trying to do a video clip using the software .. it shows in decvice manager the my sony cam is there howver when i try to view it in image mixer or any other software such as windows movie maker it says no device found .. on the cam i have it set correct with the setting on the play mode andmy p.c then detects it and on the display screen i get usb mode so why aint windows movie maker or imager mixer detecting this are there any other settings? image mixer says check set up to confirm connection with p.c can some please advise me many thanks

Can you share the link to the manual so we can see if that's supported?

Also, sometimes you find people that try this on home built PCs with poorly installed versions of the Windows OS. That detail is needed.

If your computer has a drawer loading DVD drive,

the other option is to finalize the disc in the camcorder, take the disc out of the camcorder...

Download and install HandBrake (or your favorite DVD ripper if you already have one)...

Put the finalized disc in the drawer loading DVD drive of the computer and rip the video using the DVD ripper...

NEVER put a small or odd-sized/shaped optical disc in a slot loader - you will scratch the disc and likely break the optical drive... So if your computer's optical drive does only CDs or is a slot loader, an external DVD optical drive might be in order...
