Adobe Premiere 4 vs Pinnacle Studio 11 Ultimate

I just bought a Canon HV20 and want a video editing software package to make home movies. I've narrowed it down to Adobe Premiere Elements 4 and Pinnacle Studio 11 Ultimate. The main things I'm looking for are versatility, Hi-Def capabilities, and ease of use.

Try Demos

Some editors will let you try a demo.

I haven't used either. I was very annoyed with a rudimentary pinnacle program that came with a product my Mom bought.

I've heard good things about Adobe Premiere.

I am not certain on the HD factor. I haven't moved to that medium yet. Not sure if the Premiere had true HD capabilities.

However - if you are at a point where you can choose between Adobe and Pinnacle to learn an editing program, it would be a HUGE mistake in my opinion to learn the Studio Product. I started with Studio 9, and I have slowly been forced to learn Premiere because Studio is a very unstable program. Read the forums on Studio - it is an amazingly just plain bad product, and it is continually full of bugs. I saw Studio 10 offered on the Pinnacle site for $40 once, and wondered why - a month later they came out with 11, and they themselves admit that 10 was not a good product - it was the most unstable version to date. Do yourself a favor - learn the Adobe product - it is a real product.
