Electronic Image Stabilization vs. Optical Image Stablizatio

Well, I was all set to by the Sony DCR-HC96 when it was brought up that it has "Electronic Image Stabilization" and not "Optical Image Stabilization" so now I am trying to decide between the Sony and the Panasonic PV-GS320 which has the O.I.S.
Does anyone know which is going to be better. On the Camcorderinfo.com site a person posted sample videos from both the Sony and the Panasonic. It took awhile to download them but looking at them I see for me anyways that the Sony has a better picture overall in bright light and low light. But, when I looked trying to compare stabilization it looked to me as if the Sony did better. But, I don't know if that is the technology or if the person using the camcorder was a little more shacking with the Panasonic vs. the Sony. So it comes down to which technology should be better?
Since I have a nerve disorder the stabilization is important to me even if that means a small sacrifice in image quality. Though the Camcorderinfo.com site rates the Panasonic a bit higher than the Sony.
Thanks for any help,
Robert
