Camcorders forum: Panasonic PV-GS320 PC Doesn't Recognize Camcorder

Thank you for your replies. I am going to get a firewire port installed on my PC.

dont let any one tell u owtherwise, u can use the usb cable to download the videos, its just that u might not get the superior quality, but idk, as i dont have firewire, and the technuique is kinda different, first u hook it up to the pc, rewing ur tape, open motion dv or dv motion, whatever its called, and hit play on ur cam, and as it plays u should see it on ur pc, and u hit the capture button, and wait till it finishes... reletivly simple.

so guys, u DONT HAVE TO use the firewire cable, u can if u want to, but usb works as well.

Just got the gv320- yesterday. Learning.To get quality picture straight to a widescreen 50 inch plasma, there is not a firewire input. Is there a digital conversion cable firewire to HDMI or component digital TV inputs, or does all work need to be converted on the computer to DVD and then played on TV to get digital quality?

PC or Mac to create a DVD. BUT that would result in less quality than the RCA jacks directly from the camcorder.

I hear your question but I'm going to answer that what you are seeking does not exist as the unit is not HD.

I'm in luck ! I found a dv female firewire input in my DVD player/recorder that goes straight to the tv with HDMI. Also, thanks to this forum , I ordered the dv firewire PC card for my home PC that came with the wire and photo program. Thanks for the tip there. $20// Only question now is which editing and capture program is best to use???? They are all seeming kind of Mickey Mouse. But the DV card came with Ulead Video studio 9. The Panasonic came with Motion DV and Quick Movie. Which one should should invest my time and energy into learning??? Thanks for the help.
