PLEASE HELP: Image mixer 3 problem, sony handycam dcr-sr40

I am having a problem with my software that came with my new sony camcorder. My computer is an emachine. I can save videos to my computer, but when i attempt to burn to DVD, i get an error that says "failed writing to disc". i have never had a problem with my burner before. Any suggestions...

to burn a DVD with another program after you experieced the problem? Then something could be wrong with your drive. Have you updated the drivers for the drive?

i tried burning with nero and dvd shrink. they don't recognize mpeg files. Please explain what you mean, and how to update drivers. i am somewhat computer illerate. thanks for your help.

ImageMixer & disk writing error - delete software

With the software and SONY SR 40, I had a similar problem with this software. It disabled the CD and DVD disk writing capability in ALL other programs(even windows XP). That is unacceptable. Because I liked the camera I chose to buy another program to edit video, e.g., Adobe Premier Elements. It doesn't, however, support one-button writing directly from camera to DVD. A warning to those thinking about buying this camera. DON'T buy it for this feature.

i switched from dvd-r to dvd+r discs and it worked fine.
